Activities after mobilities

Greece

τhe students created comics with dialogues and messages for the protection of our planet using the digital tool Toony Tool. Τhen, they presented the comics to their classmates and they discussed about the contemporary environmental problems and their possible solutions.

Model Building, design thinking

After the mobility in North Macedonia, the students of the 5th and 6th grade following the steps of the method ''Model Building'' designed a farmhouse (based on the characteristics of the area they live in) which supports the use of renewable energy sources and is a model of a bioclimatic residence. In fact, they proposed the utilization of rainwater for watering the vegetable and flower garden of the farmhouse, thus, in a second phase, they placed barrels in the gutters to collect the rainwater. They worked as a team and completed their work with artistic interventions on the outside of the farmhouse. They presented their work and advocated the importance of renewable energy sources, specifically wind energy and alternative ways of conserving natural resources.

Renewable energy - STEM Activities

In collaboration with the organization STEM Education which is located in Thessaloniki. 4 workshops were implemented for 4th, 5th, 6th grade students aiming to learn about renewable energy sources. Introduction to programming, scratching and 3D printing.

University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki - STEM Activities

In collaboration with the Academy of Robotics of University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki for the implementation of 3 workshops for 1st, 2d, 3rd  grade students aiming to learn about recycling, collecting garbage from roads and renewable wild energy. Introduction to programming and use of lego tools.

''Water, a precious treasure'' 

Τhe 1st grade students built boats by recyclable materials in the subject ''my language''. They discussed the importance of water in our lives, the water cycle and they made creative creations by recycled materials in collaboration with their parents to explain the water cycle. Also, in collaboration with the music teacher, they learned songs about water and they sang at the celebration of the end of school year, dedicated to the Environment.

Renewable energies

The 5th and 6th grade students dealt with the types of renewable energy resources. They created a giant poster which they presented  to parents, students and teachers at an event at the school  aiming of raising awareness about the waste of natural resources, air pollution due to lignite burning and alternative forms of energy such as wind. This specific activity is integrated into the syllabus of the subject ''Natural sciences'' of the above grades in which alternative, renewable forms of energy are, also, taught.

''Wave we will be'' (creative drama)

The 4th graders read the book entitled ''Wave we will be''. They learned about the global problem of the water crisis, about endangered animals and plants, about air pollution, about refugees due to climate change. The book refers to the effort that all human societies, all nations can make to protect our great home, the Earth. At the celebration of the end of school year, which was dedicated to the Environment the 4th graders presented this drama to their parents and other members of the community explaining the imporatance of each person's effort.

Hosting Greta in our class (creative thinking and writing)

The 6th graders hosted Greta in their class. They watched videos about her fight against climate change, they learned about the effects of the greenhouse effect, acid rain, they saw what it means to melt huge volumes of ice. They were inspired by Gretra's life and they designed a small book of campaign slogans to protect the planet.

''No Planet B''

The students of all classes brought to the school a white t-shirt and they wrote slogans of awareness and mobilization for the planet protection due to climate change, somewhat similar to Greta's struggle. Then in the school yard holding the banners with the slogans and wearing the t-shirts with the motto '' NO PLANET B'' they sang the song ''we need to wake up''

Air pollution questionnaire

6th graders working in groups as part of the science lesson and skill workshop organized a questionnaire addressed to their parents and other adults about the awareness of the seriousness of the consequences of air pollution

Lesson plan: ''Biodiversity & climate change'' 

Taking into account the curriculum of the 5th and 6th grade courses, a teaching scenario was organized on the topic of Biodiversity and climate change, utilizing all the teaching units of the subjects of Geography, Natural Sciences, Language, Social and Political Education as well as the freely accessible resources, such as the digital school with the enriched books and the photodendro.

Creative Drama

The 3rd graders made dolls from recyclable materials (paper, knitting wool, pieces of fabric, buttons, plastic bottles, etc.), they wrote a fictional story of supporting marine wealth of human waste and they presented it to the 4th graders in the school gymnasium. Αlso, the students of the 1st and 2nd grade they made dolls and they wrote stories in a cooperative way about the garbage in forests, cities, about the clean air in the countryside, about air pollution and they invited the students and teachers to present their creative storytelling.

Biodiversity & Water 

An event was held at the end of the academic year, June 2023. This year's celebration was entitled "Let's give the world to the children" and was dedicated to the environment. The 1st and 2nd grade students presented the topic of biodiversity, with descriptions and poems about the importance of insects and pollinators, about the richness of the bee society, about the importance of water as a gift of life. The event took place at the Theater in Platy Imathias, was open to everyone, parents, grandparents and other members of the community.

Greenhouse Effect  &  Water Crisis

An event was held at the end of the academic year, June 2023. This year's celebration was entitled "Let's give the world to the children" and was dedicated to the environment. The 3rd and 4th graders presented the topic of Greenhouse Effect & Water Crisis utilizing the technique of theatrical action, The event took place at the Theater in Platy Imathias, was open to everyone, parents, grandparents and other members of the community.

North Macedonia

The teachers created a lesson plan about '' The Art and Climate Change'' inspired by the workshop they participated in the Telloglio Foundation in Thessaloniki (Greece). Utilizing the works of the exhibition, they wrote a didactic senario with the aim of raising awareness of environmental problems, cultivating expression and feeling for the importance of life in the modern era.
